celebrating away from home...again.

The festival of lights came and went as usual without a whimper here.  Even after all this time, or perhaps because of that, the pain exists.  It's almost a wrenching feeling in the gut that cannot be explained, cannot be assuaged.   Thank God for the small  rituals that we go through at home, if nothing else, for the sake of N who needs to be exposed to this.  And thank God, really, for neighbors who had us over for fireworks, and for friends, with whom we will share a few moments, to experience the festival in our own way here.  Yes, I lit my little diyas, and they glowed resolutely in the foggy night.  More fireworks, food and fun coming up in the weekend.  Makes up for not being home, where all the real action is.
