enjoying the Potomac

Watched the Potomac in real fine form today at Great Falls.  Its almost hypnotic to watch the falls cascade down the rocks.  What was more amazing was to see the canoers make their way down the forceful falls.  For that crazy moment when they are at the tip of the falls, I watched with bated breath, super scared for what looked like a really scary, crazy descent.  And then down they came, one by one, obviously in the best physical shape ever, and god knows how much training they've had to be able to do that.  Amazing!  Standing at the vantage view point where we had the best, most gorgeous view, the watching crowd broke into cheers and applause.  In a few minutes, the people in the boats came to the edge of the rocks, got off, started to climb the rocks back to the start of the falls, to do it all over again!!  Seriously wow!
